Climate Change is EVERYONE’S Business
At Prince Energy, we recognise the importance of driving down carbon emissions, and we all have a duty to our planet to reduce our carbon footprints. Whether you are running a large fleet of vehicles, or you simply use heating oil to heat your home, carbon offsetting your fuel purchase is the perfect, low-cost way of counteracting your carbon emissions, when compared to biofuel alternatives such as Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO).
When fossil fuels are burnt, carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere, and as we all know, this is a major contributing factor towards Global warming. The UK government has set a target of achieving Net Zero Carbon Emissions by 2050, so everyone has a responsibility of finding ways to reduce and offset their carbon emissions.
What is Carbon Offsetting?
Carbon offsetting is basically what it says on the tin. It is offsetting the Carbon produced through carbon producing activities, such as burning fuel, by funding green initiatives around the world. These initiatives are often based in developing countries and can take various forms, from rolling out new green energy technologies to directly soaking up the CO2 from the atmosphere by planting trees or creating offshore kelp farms.
How does Carbon Offsetting work?
When you choose to carbon offset your fuel purchases, we will purchase carbon credits on your behalf in order to fund well established, reputable Carbon Project Developers. After your fuel is delivered, we will notify you of the carbon you have offset and provide information about the projects you have helped to fund.
What’s the catch?
There’s no catch. As a family business, family is at the core of everything we do, and we all have a responsibility to ensure that our grandchildren can enjoy a greener future, in a well-balanced, vibrant environment.
Advantages of Carbon offsetting for business
As well as helping the environment and fighting Global Warming, offsetting your carbon output can provide a number of benefits:
- Access to tender/projects which have low emissions (or zero emissions) targets
- Positive PR for your organisation
- Low-cost when compared to biofuel alternatives
- Complementing your company’s Corporate Social Responsibility Schemes
